Getting to Know Me…

Things I plan to do before I die:

1. Visit Lindisfarne--Oh to walk across the sand to the Holy Island.

2. Visit Iona and touch it's stillness.

3. Hold lots of grand-babies.

4. Spend two weeks with the Northumbria Community.

5. Plant a new monastic church. : )

Things I can do:

1. Listen.

2. Love.

3. Pray.

4. See.

5. Blog.

Things I cannot do:

1. Change the oil in the car.

2. Understand how to use Adobe. : (

3. Manage a classroom of unruly kids.

4. Read technical manuals. (Boring.)

5. Stay up really late.

Things that attract me to my husband:

1. He's funny.

2. His capacity to listen to me.

3. He loves our children very well.

4. His wisdom and insight.

5. His bony elbows.

Modern Celebrity crushes:

1. Mark Lester--He played Oliver in the musical "Oliver."

2. Jack Wild--He played the Artful Dodger in the musical "Oliver."

3. Bobby Sherman--He was cute.

4. David Cassidy--He was hot.

5. Mel Gibson--Great eyes!

Ancient Celebrity crushes:

1. John of the Cross--What would you say to us moderns in all our busyness?

2. Teresa of Avila--So what values are important to distill into our "cloistered" communities?

3. Julian of Norwich--Tell me about suffering and God in the time of the Black Plague.

4. Hadewiich--What important lessons did you learn from your fellow beguines?

5. Benedict--What wisdom would you impart to us as we embark on this journey?

Jan,
Thank you for your words. I read your blog and am blessed beyond words...quotes, thoughts, feelings...all leave me with the understanding that our hearts like the same input from great writers and those who have walked this path with Christ before us.
I will be praying for you with your Dad living (?) with you or at least with you for a time...my Mom and Dad lived with us for many years and it is sometimes difficult, and so many times wonderful. Joy
