One of the gifts of ministry are the friends you meet along the way. I met Steve years ago at Open Door. He played keyboards in the worship band. His demeanor was quiet. His blue eyes always shined with an inner happiness.
Steve came to Abbey Way almost three years ago. As a congregation, we were young and trying to figure out who God was calling us to be. His arrival was in the nick of time, providing some much needed worship voice to our Sunday gathering.
When I think of Steve, he has been much more than a worship leader or staff member to me. He is my friend. We have traveled many roads together and learned to breathe together as we led worship on Sunday night. I love how he brought who is was to us, nothing more, nothing less.
Labor Day weekend was Steve's last time at Abbey Way. He will be deeply missed by all of us. He will be deeply missed by me.
This photo captures a little of the deep gladness Steve brought to me. Here's to you Steve!! Love you!
